Missions

In addition to local evangelical outreach efforts, Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center (SRCMC) supports missionaries in two ways: direct Local Missionary Activity and support of global Missions through our general Office of the Church of God in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center regards the following commands of Jesus to be the highest calling for the Christian:

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Direct Local Missionary Activity

SRCMC is a church with a love for missions. We support missionaries with equipment, finances, ministry materials, prayer and short-term medical/evangelism teams. We encourage our people to get involved with missions on various levels. We all are required to answer the call of the Great Commission. Whether you are prayer and/or financial support, a medical/dental professional or a layperson with the desire to see the lost come to Christ, there is a place for you to get involved here at Stewart Road!

Our Missions Board is actively evaluating missions opportunities throughout the year, throughout the world. Short-term missionary teams go several times to the field, ministering through medical clinics set up in areas where we support our full-time missionaries. American medicine is often the key that draws in the lost so that they may hear the healing power of Jesus.

Each year in November we host a Missions Conference and bring missionaries to our church so that our people will be able to interact with those that they support, both prayerfully and financially. The spirit of missions is gaining momentum at Stewart Road; together we are harvesting souls for the Kingdom of Christ. There is a place for you to get involved in missions, whether you go on the field or help in the regular giving of your finances to support those on the field. "Local involvement, global impact- come make a difference!"

Missionary Work

Past Local Church missions to Central America, Bulgaria and India - We have been on many mission trips to these areas, including the Amazon; Kumai, Ecuador; Nanay River, Peru; Chennai, India; Tenali, India; Ecuador Jungle; and Panama in the remote areas of Piedra Pintada and to the northern San Blas islands working with the Kuna Indians.
Local Church outreach to Mexico - Missionary Bob Sunberg and his wife, Rocio, are assisted through our local Church donations in spreading the Gospel in Oaxaca, one of the most unreached states in Mexico, with the Gospel.
Up coming trips through February 2010 - Trinidad June 2009; Oaxaca, Mexico June 13-20, 2009; Panama City, Panama September 5-12; Oaxaca, Mexico December 1-8; Tenali, India January 2010; Ghana West Africa February 2010

Early May the church sent a team to the Oglala Sioux, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota supporting their local church and missionaries in spreading the gospel.

Missionary Giving

Your gifts to Missions enable us to evangelize and change the world! Opportunities for your giving:

SRCMC Missions - This is the main missions’ account and is where any gift to “missions” is placed unless otherwise noted. This money is used to support any of our sponsored missionaries, fund special projects; such as eyeglasses, medicines, equipment, and other tangible supplies to support evangelism and medical clinics.
Missions Grant Fund - Money donated to this account is used to help offset the costs of travel expenses for our church members to go on mission trips. Money from fund raising activities is placed into this fund. To apply for a grant, any member that feels called to go on a mission trip needs to write a letter stating the reasons he/she feels led to go on this trip and the reasons asking for a grant. Depending on availability of funds, grant may cover as much as 50% of trip cost. Please address your giving to “Missions Grant Fund.” You will be greatly blessed.
Indian Orphan Fund - SRCMC supports and operates an orphanage in Tenali, India where over 60 children are fed, clothed, and provided with a Christian Education. An orphan can be sponsored for just $25 per month. Any additional giving, including one-time gifts are used to offset additional needs of the orphanage. Please address your giving to “Indian Orphan Fund.”
Indian Pastors’ Fund - The Missions Department is currently supporting 25 Indian pastors in areas of severe poverty. You can support an Indian pastor for just $35 per month. Please address your giving to “Indian Pastors’ Fund.”

Missions is currently accepting Beanie Babies, laptop computers, digital cameras, camcorders, frequent flyer miles, and eyeglasses.

Support of Global Missions

We encourage you to actively help the Church of God World Missions. You will find many great resources for missions at their website, along with information on donating and supporting in other ways.

The majority of our unreached world is located within a rectangular band that has been called the "10/40 Window." This area lies between 10 degrees and 40 degrees north of the equator and stretches from the west coast of Africa to East Asia. Most of the un-evangelized people and countries of the world are here. Almost two-thirds (2/3) of the world's population lives here. This window is the region where Christianity began.
